Are you an avid gamer who wants to start testing games? Do you know you can get paid for testing games?

It's relatively easy and you often get to test out games that aren't even out. All you need is some time and a willingness to share your opinions and feedback.

The best way to start testing games you like to play is on PlaytestCloud. It connects developers who need help in testing out the usability of new games with players just like you and me.

You can start by taking a survey to see if you qualify for available games and by thoroughly updating your profile to include all games you like to play. This helps them more than you as it lets the PlaytestCloud team match your abilities and knowledge with the creators' needs.

This opportunity is open worldwide. To participate, you need a mobile device or a Mac/PC or gaming consoles along with a pair of headphones and a PayPal account. They just need your email for your PayPal and nothing else.

Why Game Testers Are Needed

Developers create the games and test them out on their end, but Economics 101 has it the consumer is always right so your opinions are worth the price developers are willing to pay.

Plus, in order to make new games stand out within the saturated gaming market, developers need to gauge the interests and desires of their customers. Basically, how to make games fun and exciting for you so you keep buying and playing them!

How does it work?

  1. Make an account with PlaytestCloud.

  2. They'll send you an invite via email for a practice test that takes approximately 5 minutes. You don't get paid for this ~ it's practice lol. They want to familiarize you with the process, how screen and voice recording work along with what's expected from you. Don't worry, the camera will not be recording you (apparently they don't want to see your face).

  3. Time to wait until the first test is emailed to you. Unfortunately, there's no way to say how long this will take - it really depends on your qualifications meeting those set by the developers.

  4. Once a test becomes available, they'll send out an email with the specifics like the reward, the device needed, when you start, and other specifics. It'll look like the below pic.

Follow the steps provided at the end of the email and that's it. Payment will be issued within 5 days after you finish testing.

Who is eligible?

Many people are! So once you get the email, do the survey to see if you qualify pronto. Otherwise, the slots will fill-in and you'll be out of luck. But there's more.

Let's say you qualify. Then they'll send out the invitation to test the game to all players that responded on time and qualified for the survey. Again, do the test as soon as they send it or you'll be out of luck for this too (despite doing the survey AND qualifying to test!).

How much will I get paid?

There's no way to be certain, but, from my experience, the tests range from $5 to $11 on average. Keep in mind, you'll be informed of how much a test pays in the beginning before you start testing.

It takes a few days to get the email informing you that payment is issued and made available to the PayPal account linked.

This isn't going to make you rich nor help you pay your bills. In fact, it might barely be enough as pocket money. But it IS money and all you need to do is what you like doing anyway so you can have your cake and eat it too!

Here’s a Pro-Tip: If you get a new game that you like to play, update your PlaytestCloud account under the category "Account games that you play at least weekly". Keep updating the games you like to play on your profile because the more your profile stays up to date the highest the likelihood you'll appear active and be chosen for testing.

Peace, DM.
